“If you don’t create your future, who will? The decision is in your hands.”
Walt Disney was a pioneer of the American animation industry. He was a genius in the production of cartoons. His first popular success was in 1928 when he created Mickey Mouse.
Albert Einstein was one of the greatest physicists of all time. He developed the theory of relativity. And revolutionized our understanding of space, time, gravity, and the universe.
Yet both created something radical which changed the world we know today.
But they had something in common.
To give you a hint, here are their famous quotes:
“It’s kind of fun to do the impossible.” – Walt Disney
“Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere.” – Albert Einstein
Do you think they were born with some kind of magic talent? No! They were just like you and me.
And you want to know a secret? You have this same ability! Shhh…
You can create the life you want. Land clients who value your work. And earn the money you desire.
Dream Big Today And Make It A Reality Tomorrow
Years ago I served a mission for my church in the Netherlands.
Biking is the most common way of transportation there. We biked just about everywhere.
Usually, we took the same route home and every day we saw an elderly lady sitting in front of her house. We never spoke, but it became part of our routine to wave at her at 8pm.
Then on a rainy Saturday, my bike broke down in front of her house. Dan and I were exhausted, hungry and soaked. She invited us inside to warm up and dry our clothes.
Freshly-baked cinnamon buns welcomed us in the kitchen. They smelled delicious. The lady poured some hot cocoa to go with them then sat by the fireplace staring at us munching.
To break the silence, she asked “So boys, what’s your plan for the future?” Almost choking on the food, Dan rolled his eyes. “Uhm, I don’t know yet” – he mumbled.
Without any hesitation, I said, “I imagine myself getting married to a beautiful woman that shares the same values as me. We have a large family. I work from home and homeschool our children. And we have money. Lots of it!”
My answer surprised both of them – “Looks like you’ve got it all planned out!” said the lady.
And if you’ve attended any of my live events, or watched my webinars, you’ve heard me speaking about my personal life. A lot. Because I’m so proud of it.
It turned out exactly how I imagined when I was a teenager. I proposed to the most amazing person on Earth, Margie Andersen. On our 4th date! She also dreamed about a huge family and gifted me with 11 beautiful children…
And not to brag here… but I cannot complain about money problems.
I always imagined myself as a great husband and daddy. And I achieved it.
Because I used the same secret as Walt Disney and Einstein.
I used my IMAGINATION.
Your Subconscious Brain Controls Your Life
As a marketer, I’ve studied human beings. A lot. What I’ve discovered is we are capable of stepping out and just watching ourselves.
We are the only species in the Universe with this unique ability. We have self-awareness. We can imagine ourselves doing different things than what we are doing today.
It’s such a powerful thing that we own, yet so overlooked.
Science proves our subconscious mind controls 95% of our daily actions.
Think about the simplest things like breathing, walking, your beating heart… I bet you didn’t think about scratching your ear when it felt itchy. It just happens. It’s controlled by subconscious systems in your brain.
Your conscious brain programs your subconscious brain, which controls your life.
The subconscious brain doesn’t know the difference between real experience and imagined experience. That’s why it is so crucial to spend time and focus on it.
In this busy world, we forget to simply sit down and imagine our future. Imagine how it would look to have everything we want.
We can create the life we desire simply by using our imagination.
How To Efficiently Use Your Imagination
Here are 3 ideas that helped me achieve all the success I’ve ever had.
#1 Journal your story
I don’t mean your past story. Where you went to school, what was the name of your pet when you were a kid. No. Write down your future story.
How do you see yourself in a few years?
Imagine what your life will be like.
Where you want to live.
How much money you want to make.
Writing it down reinforces it.
Your brain is experiencing it as you’re writing it.
#2 Find quiet time
We live in a noisy, data-driven, psychotic world. Can you focus when everything is “screaming” around you? Not really, right? So slow down and schedule time for yourself when you do nothing.
Find quiet time physically and mentally. We need this to recharge our batteries and move towards our goals with more energy.
#3 Expand your definition of possible
Every one of us is created with unlimited possibilities. But we tend to forget this.
Instead, we have limiting beliefs. How much money we should be making, which clients would be ideal for us.
So free yourself of these limiting beliefs. Believe that everything you want is possible.
Take Charge Of Your Life And Win
Now make some time today and start imagining the life you want to have. Write it down and don’t hold yourself back. Everything is possible, remember?
And if you think you don’t have time, make time!
It’s your life. You take charge and you win. Nobody can take your imagination away. It’s about YOUR future.
If you don’t create your future, who will? The decision is in your hands.
